The paving and landscaping next to the building indicate that the renovation of the Csokonai Theater is progressing well. Recently, the internal scaffolding was dismantled, and currently, experts are working on the parquet flooring of the auditorium. The renovation and restoration of the gallery have also been completed.
The Csokonai Theater will have a new, elegant reception area. Acoustic walls have been installed in the auditorium, and the gallery, which is under historical protection, has been renovated and restored.
– “The largest remaining task is to refurbish the auditorium and public areas. The parquet flooring in the auditorium has begun and is expected to be completed in two to three weeks, after which the seats will be installed,” – said Tamás Hegymegi, our technical director.
-“We place a great emphasis on theater technology. One of the most capital-intensive and resource-demanding parts of the renovation is the completely new mechanical and stage technology. We’ve already had a preview with the Csokonai Forum, showing what the new theater is capable of. Practically, the two theaters’ technologies will be compatible, allowing experts to work interchangeably,” –highlighted Mayor László Papp.
In mid-November, the historically valuable auditorium chandelier, restored by a metal conservator, is expected to arrive on site, and the final touches on the façade are nearing completion, allowing the external scaffolding to be removed.
The natural limestone coverings and interior finishing works in the public areas already give the building an impressive appearance.
Once the final energy connections are available, the mechanical adjustments can begin.
In the first week of November, furniture started being delivered to the already completed areas, and the installation of custom-built furniture and mirror walls is nearing completion.
In parallel with the external paving and landscaping work, the modernization of the outdoor lighting and the installation of outdoor LED walls are ongoing.
The Csokonai Theater is expected to be ready for theater enthusiasts next year.
