THE COMPANY OF CSOKONAI THEATRE GAVE A SPECIAL CONCERT AMONG THE WALLS OF THE THEATRE BUILDING NOW UNDERGOING A MAJOR RENOVATION
- 2021-07-09
“The Day of Hungarian Culture plays a defining role in our national identity,” László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen, wrote on his Facebook page. As he recalled, this is the day when one of the cornerstones of our Hungarian identity, the words of the national anthem (“Himnusz”) was written by Ferenc Kölcsey. At the same time, on this same day we should not forget about another major Hungarian poet either, as 2021 is the János Pilinszky Memorial Year! This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth. On this occasion, the company of Csokonai Theatre staged a special concert among the walls of the theatre building now undergoing renovation.
The company is reaching out to theatre lovers with some acts of kindness, since after the special concert, they will also make available online the recording of the performance “Ha álom az élet” (If life is a dream) from 7 p.m. Based on texts by George Sand, with the stage adaptation by Adélaïde Pralon, starring Klári Varga and Hajnalka Szakács, the play that premièred in 2017 stages a unique life path. The play can be seen free of charge on the Facebook page and on the website of the theatre until midnight on 31 January.
